There are a few things you should pay attention to when buying golf waterproofs to prevent unfavourable weather conditions from keeping you off the course or interrupting you in the middle of a round:

• Waterproof, not water-resistant. Obviously, the material must be waterproof. Be sure not to buy clothing that is water-resistant because the water can find its way through, especially if it’s raining heavily. It’s hard to imagine playing golf during heavy rainfall but in Britain, it’s not unusual to get caught by a sudden storm in the middle of the course. In this case, water-resistant garment won’t keep your 100% dry.

• Flexibility/freedom of movement. Your golf waterproofs must keep you warm and dry but they also must provide flexibility and freedom of movement otherwise they can seriously interfere with your performance.
